What I'm Doing Right Now

Developing my writing and distribution
I've continued pursuing my main goal behind the building of this site: consistently writing and publishing work. Currently, this looks like daily (mostly) posts on X and two longer-form pieces a month, an essay and a compilation of recommendations. If those sound interesting, you can sign up to get them sent to you directly.
The primary focus is to build out a repository of substantial work on this site, with an emphasis on substantial. I have a long way to go to produce the quality of written work I'm interested in, but I have a sense that with enough time and repetition, I'll be headed in that general direction.
The secondary goal of all this writing is to build an enthusiastic audience. My definition of enthusiasm varies depending on my mood, but generally, I mean it to be someone who's interested in engaging with the work I produce. More on this below.
Exposure
How do you increase your surface area for serendipity and optionality? How do you have interesting conversations with people you don't yet know? How do you pursue opportunities driven by curiosity rather than a required outcome? These are the questions I continue to direct my work towards answering. In my short time in the public sphere, I've already had the fortune of meeting and talking with numerous thoughtful creatives, writers, and builders. It's a satisfying initial proof of concept that I'm excited to continue. So please, don't hesitate to say hi!
Resonance
Earlier this year, I began learning the upright bass. It's a giant, physically taxing hunk of wood, but oh is it satisfying when you find the right note. I saw the bass as a good way to develop my ear, increase the number of instruments I can play during jam sessions (in turn increasing the number of songs I can sit in on), and help to inform my songwriting and composition on the piano. After years on a digital keyboard, there's something immediately satisfying about the warm, analog resonance that comes from a wooden instrument.
And yes, I'm still falling
Skateboarding continues to be a foolishly enjoyable activity, leaving me bruised and sore for days at a time. I've found it to be the perfect embodiment of the learning process and the rapid, physical nature of skill acquisition has been both fun and insightful. For those keeping up, I can now jump off things, and onto things (albeit quite short things). Next up is grinds, which I consider the aesthetic pinnacle of skateboarding.
Slowly, then suddenly,
